The AGROBIOTECH plant science and agronomy research platform brings together 4 technical components on the Rouen campus: the Normand Serre experimental platform, the Indoor Farming Research platform, the AGRORTECH platform and the BIOSOL platform.

Together, these four infrastructures enable us to grow plants under controlled conditions, monitor growth, characterize plants, soil and the micro-biodiversity present in the rhizosphere, and characterize and process biobased materials derived from whole plants or crop co-products.

Objective

AgroBioTech's objective is to offer, in a single location, a unique set of technologies and skills for the sustainable production, processing and valorization of plant resources and biomass, integrating the entire processing chain from the cultivation of resources to their deconstruction for their final use. These uses range from packaging to biosourced plastics and sustainable construction materials.

The activities of the AgroBioTech platform cover disciplinary fields ranging from plant biology and agronomy to microbiology, biochemistry, physical chemistry and bioprocesses.

Associated research units

The AgroBioTech platform's activities are based on the scientific expertise of the Agro-ecology, Hydrogeochemistry, Environments & Resources (AGHYLE-UP 2018.C101) and Transformations & Agroressources (UT&A-ULR 7519 UniLaSalle - Université d'Artois) research units, evaluated by the HCERES and accredited by the French Ministry of Agriculture and Food Sovereignty.

Our missions

The platform's missions cover the fields of plant sciences, agronomy and bioprocesses. Skills in soil science, plant physiology, microbial ecology, biotechnology and processes are mobilized for the production and transformation of agro-resources into materials and biomolecules of interest.

It provides analytical and technical support in the form of services and/or research collaborations, and boasts a range of state-of-the-art components:

  • Multi-scale experimental stations for plant production (Normand Serre and InDoor Farming Research Center),
  • The platform's skills are multi-disciplinary and original, enabling it to offer complementary technical services and expertise in a single location, for optimum support of the various players involved.
  • The AgroBioTech platform offers a wide range of services:
  • Support for the characterization needs of research units,
  • Technical and scientific feasibility studies, impact studies for the academic and socio-economic world,
  • Responding to user needs by building customized, original solutions, such as new formulations and prototypes,
  • Development of databases, offering new prospects for added value,
  • Training employees, students, partners and start-ups in new plant production, processing and value-added technologies.
